Alternative Materials Curriculum

FRUITY HOOPS!!!

Students learn about traditional mosaics as well as the elements of art and design while creating beautiful images out of cereal.

Some students chose printed mandala designs to fill in and decorate, while others created their own original designs (more photos to come.)

What I love about this project is that the students are given the opportunity to demonstrate great ingenuity and feed off of one another. One student may seperate the pieces by color, others may crush the cereal to create a new texture.

Students are learning about line, shape, form, color, texture, space, value in a hands on approach. This is a fantastic lesson for the reluctant art student or those who think they...enter that four letter word... can't draw.
